A few years ago, I was looking for a way to level up engagement with the youth and the urban communities that I was raised in. As part of my outreach efforts for science and culture communication, I developed the mobile bone lab.
The Rockstar Anthro Mobile Bone Lab provides a hands on learning experience that includes forensic anthropology, archaeology, history, math, art, culture and more. Each lab is personalized for the school or group that is participating. Labs have included cases based on the NYC African Burial Grounds, Philipsburg Manor, Blackness and Bioarchaeology, Anthropology Basics, and more! Since the first workshop, 100s of children and adults across New York have participated in solving cases while exploring human skeletal biology.
If you’re interested in having the Bone Lab make a visit to your school or community center, don’t hesitate to get in touch! RockstarAnthro@gmail.com
